A long process ...

still recovering from surgery (lateral epicondylectomy) for tennis elbow, plus removal of bone spur and tendon and extendor repair. Needless to say, typing has been an issue (using my left hand now!). Three more weeks in the brace then physical therapy. Have some voice recognition software that I am going to begin taking advantage of, so there will more regular posting, working on writing projects and other exciting things to come!!

Hope you are enjoying a blessed Christmas with family and friends, as I am : )

writing about Jane Byram ... surviving leukemia!

Jane's story on surviving her battle with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia inspires me every time I work on it! On April 11, 2012, she will celebrate 10 years since she was officially diagnosed with this disease. She is blessed, for sure!

According to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, every four minutes, one person in the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer ... leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. Those new cases, were said to account for more than 9 percent of 1,529,560 new cancer cases diagnosed in the U.S. in 2010, alone.

Every 10 minutes, someone in the U.S. dies from a blood cancer. This statistic represents nearly 148 people each day, or more than six people EVERY HOUR!!

Jane is a phenomenal fighter, and organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society continue to make important strides in research and finding cures for all blood cancers.

Those are just a few notes of interest I wanted to share as I set the writing production schedule with actual dates. Here we go!

November 1: Have proposal updated with the new statistics from LLS; other information revised/updated completed and sent to "editors" & Jane to proof.
November 7: Have all book chapters completed, at least in draft form, sent to editors/Jane.
November 10/11: Edits back in hand, update manuscript as needed!
November 15: Complete edits/revisions, finalize manuscript
November 18: Mail/e-mail queries with sample chapters to would-be literary agents/publishers

I can write it. I can do the marketing/public relations. Jane and I can do talk shows, radio interviews, etc. Need a literary agent/publisher to back it. Endorsements.

Here's a small piece of the overview from the proposal. If you like reading it, and want to follow the story, I can start posting portions of the chapters, assignments, etc. Let me know what you think.

   Overview

It may take a traumatic experience or even a threat to one’s life or to that of a loved one to learn valuable life lessons. That’s what it took for teacher, Jane Byram, to learn five of the toughest lessons she has ever experienced. Those lessons began with what could be likened to a classroom of unsuspecting students who were just told to clear their desks for a pop quiz. Only Jane was told to clear her life – she had acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). Readers of Lesson Plans for Life will take a journey with Jane beginning in the days when she said, “It felt like I’d been hit with a two-by-four. I think God tried to get my attention in more subtle ways, but I didn’t listen. Do I think God caused me to have leukemia? Absolutely not! Do I think God has used my AML to help me better understand how to slow down, to really live? There is no doubt!”
As the lessons are outlined readers will see how Jane dealt with each at the beginning stages of her illness, and as a survivor continuing to deal with them today. Readers will go through emotional ups and downs with Jane, her friends and family. There will be laughter and tears. There will be personal and spiritual growth and emotional healing.
Jane has changed her focus, and others can do the same by applying what she has learned in these tough, life lessons. She was a teacher after all, who better to help people understand what she learned first-hand?
The book is formatted so that readers may simply read it as a story of hope and encouragement or use it as a learning tool in personal study or in a small group setting. Each chapter includes personal interviews and testimony, scriptural and motivational references, as well as a set of topical questions or conversation starters to help facilitate meaningful thoughts and discussions.
Throughout Lesson Plans for Life readers will encounter some tough-life,
tough-love questions and hear solutions which they can implement into their own lives. Some they’ll like; some will hit too close to home, and might cause emotional discomfort. Those are the ones readers especially need to read, understand and apply to their personal situation.
Having leukemia helped Jane put life in perspective. Her hope is that those who
take time to go on this journey with her, by reading Lesson Plans, won’t have to endure anything so drastic as leukemia, or if a tragedy or crisis has already crashed into someone’s life, that she can encourage them to keep hoping and living!
Blessings!
Lisa

waiting ...

This is so NOT my best thing!! Sitting at Prairie Heart waiting for Mom's heart cath to be finished and to see what they find, if anything. She is so scared that it breaks my heart. I can't seem comfort her. I've reminded her that I'm praying, that her family is praying, that her small group is praying, that her church family is praying and that my FB friends are even praying. Honestly, she is surrounded!! That gets me through the waiting part. Hoping it will get her through as well!

Thought I would post, and then go back to my Bible study ... the lesson/focus is on obedience this week, and I am trying to be obedient, both to God & Mom, not always easy.

I also have work to do. Thankfully, I am travelling for work this Saturday for the Sustainable Energy Expo in Southern Illinois, so I will make up time then that I am losing today, even gain a little extra, likely.

Trusting that all will go well today, and maybe I'll get a workout in later this evening once I get Mom home and all settled in. Dad is at home and can take care of her then. If she has to be admitted for something, then we'll do what needs to be done, and I'll arrange my plans accordingly : )

OK ... back to the waiting!

Wishing you all a day of blessings!

Sunday, Sunday ...

WOW! A Sunday morning, and I actually got to sleep in. Happily, I sing on the praise teams most weeks at Chatham Presbyterian Church. However, I had the week off because we have an amazing teen praise and worship team that led today's service. As a result, I didn't need to be there at 7 a.m., like most Sundays. Sauntered in around 9 a.m., visited with folks and then worshiped at the 9:30 service.

After church I worked out and then spent the afternoon hanging out at Panera. Did my Bible study ... focus is on prayer and spending quiet time with God. I'm trying to do more of that!! Spent some time reading, writing & finishing up an overdue newsletter.

Today I read Sarah Mackey's blog (www.SarahWMackey.com). This young woman amazes me each time I see the things that she is accomplishing. I would encourage you to follow her blog, as well. She is the executive director of Springfield's Habitat for Humanity, where she gets to make a difference every day in the lives of others. She is married to one of my favorite people, Brant Mackey, publisher of the Springfield Business Journal. She leads by example in our communities. She volunteers for organizations without hesitation and is a woman of strong moral character and integrity. She earned recognition recently for all that she has done as the recipient of the 2011 Athena Award. She takes initiative where/when needed. She is smart, impressive, for sure ... someone to watch!

Busy week ahead:

  • Working every day at AIEC/Illinois Country Living
  • Workouts every day at Snap Fitness
  • First Place 4 Health Small Group Monday evening.
  • Mom to doctor for lab work Tuesday and heart cath on Wednesday
  • Preparing to lead the large group kid's Sunday School time for next Sunday
  • IWIL program and AIEC Board Meeting on Thursday
  • Springfield Scene profile
Wishing you a fabulous week!

Making choices ...

Sounds easy, until you say, making good choices vs. bad choices ... not quite as easy. It's a matter of knowing what you need vs. what you want. Surprising, I know, but those two things do not always line up. The new small group I am taking part in helps to make those decisions easier, at least for me. Knowing that others are looking to me for guidance also helps me in making better, more right choices.  Harder to encourage others if you aren't doing the things you recommend yourself!

For example ... I have gotten my butt out of bed every day this week, so far, and gone to Snap to get my workouts in BEFORE I come into the office. It's done. I have more energy, and honestly, it helps me make better food choices throughout the day, too. I am not getting up at 5 ish every day to then blow my hard work on something edible that I know is counter productive. Is that to say I won't have a treat once in a while ... absolutely not! I love my sweets as much as the next person, and a salty snack, too. However, I am more aware of the portion, and then don't beat myself up for having it. That all seems good to me!

Something to make you laugh:
I have been trying to get in at least a 45 minute workout each morning, including at least 30 minutes of cardio, starting on the arc trainer at Snap Fitness. Sometimes I do all 30 minutes, or a little more, just on that. Today, I wasn't motivated to keep going, so after 16 minutes, I decided to move to the next thing. Saw that the Kickboxing, advanced level, was running on the Video On-Demand screen, so decided to join it in progress. About five minutes into it, I was winded, but excited that I was keeping up. Then the gal says, "OK, great warm-up! Let's get started!" GREAT WARM-UP??! Are you kidding me?! I kept going until I had a total of 14 minutes to add to my initial 16 minutes on the arc trainer for the total 30 minutes of cardio, and then moved to my regular ab workout. Whew! It's all good! And I did something new!!

Headed to Applebee's for dinner tonight with hubby! Love their tropical paradise chicken salad ... hope it's not a seasonal menu item : )

Have a fabulous evening and weekend ... make good choices!

New beginings ...

Today I did a new workout ... Latin Hip Hop via Snap Fitness' Video On Demand! I have a hunch I'll be feeling new aches and pains tomorrow in places that I forgot existed. But it's all good! Last Thursday I did an hour on the arc trainer, burned 735 calories and was very proud of that. Didn't really "feel" it the next day, but know that it was beneficial. Did arc trainer on Friday and Saturday, too, only 30 to 45 minutes, plus other workout stuff. Today I started on the arc trainer, but in 15 minutes was bored ... you'll have those days. Since there was no-one else around (that could be watching and making fun of me) I decided to try the dance video. It was awesome! Funny, I did keep watching the door to see if anyone was watching ... LOL! Not that anyone would even have any interest in watching what I was doing ... although, everyone needs a good laugh once in a while.

Other new beginnings:
I am participating in (NaNoWriMo) National Novel Writers Month Roadmap Workshop starting today. This is my opportunity to get my novel laid out and be ready to get it written and finalized by the end of November, which is actually National Novel Writer's Month. I need the extra push, in general, and since I am having surgery the day before Thanksgiving, my NaNoWriMo will be cut eight days short. Still working on the "Jane" book, too. The publication deadline for that one is March : )

First Place 4 Health Small Group - starts tomorrow ... 11 people signed up, plus me! Looking forward to leading and participating in this group : )

Have a blessed week!!

Motivation ... Inspiration!

Sunday I had a fabulous workout! I needed it ... a kickstart to a new phase of health & fitness. Was excited to have people signing up for the FirstPlace4Health program that I'll be leading at church starting Oct. 3. To me, that is a huge responsibility ... I want to motivate and inspire others to get healthy ... with that comes making sure I am not just talking the talk, but walking the walk!

I have decided that I have to workout on a more regular basis. Have been making all kinds of excuses over the last few months. Too tired. Don't feel good. Arm hurts. Too busy. Leg is cramping. Will do it tomorrow. If it's an excuse, I have uttered it and used it.

After my great workout Sunday, I dragged myself out of bed and went to Snap to do my workout before work both Monday and today ... my energy level both days has been so much higher! Have been more alert, more productive, more driven. Took my lunch both days, too ... healthier than eating out, for sure. And it gives me time to walk at lunch, too ... another 1/2 hour of cardio and bonus ... I get to visit with friends I work with!

Legs are sore, added squats and lunges this a.m., plus did my abs stuff. So excited for the results that will surely follow the hard work and better eating habits : ) And let's just put it out there ... was 147.4 on the scale yesterday. I'm only 5'2" ... and any little bit of extra weight I add back on shows. I'm 10 lbs up from where I was a few months ago, and it's simply because I haven't been puttin' forth the effort. Let's see where we go, 'cause I am putting the effort and the time in now!

Oh, yeah ... I'm watching the number on the scale, but it IS NOT the only thing I am taking into account as I track the success I want to have. Took my measurements too, and will track how my clothes fit. Plus, already having that energy level climbing back up is helping me spend more time in devotions and working on my writing projects. I am so thankful for the good health God has given me. All of these factors are major parts of my journey. You ready to take the journey with me?

Wishing you roses n rainbows, health and wellness!

Serving an awesome God

It's so exciting when you can actually see and feel God moving in and among the people of His church ... through your church family and your community! That's what is happening at/through Chatham Presby, and it is exciting!

I am pleased that we have people signing up for the First Place 4 Health Small Group that begins Monday, Oct. 3. I pray that it will be a life-changing experience for folks, including me!  All are welcome ... let me know if you are interested in joining!

We have one of our young adults also offering a small group opportunity on Monday nights, starting Oct. 3. Praying that God sends people to each group who will connect with one another and most importantly will connect with Him through these groups.

Leading by example is one of the things that I take seriously. Knowing that I get to lead this small group has encouraged me to kick my workouts up a notch, plus I am more aware of my attitude, thoughts, actions and what I am eating. Yay, God!! What I don't want to be seen as is the "food police!" That is so not the goal and not the role of the FP4H leader or of the small group, in general. This study is sooooo much more than food-focused ... that is part of why I am so excited about it!

Had a great workout after church today, then enjoyed taco salad with fresh tomatoes (likely the last of the season), and then went for a walk with friend, on this overcast, breezy Sunday. Thought I'd take time to update my blog, go to church later to pick up my small group materials so I can do some studying and then come back home to review the materials a bit more and get some writing done (if my stupid arm will allow it).

What are you doing on this Sunday afternoon/evening?

Wishing you rainbows n roses!

Insomnia ...

I suppose insomnia isn't all bad. I've caught up on (most) e-mails. Doing Bible study. Getting some writing done. Thinking 'bout life. Hope I still feel the same tomorrow while at work : )

At least Thursday is my Friday ... I am off Friday. Planning on writing all morning, and then Kristian and I will be attending the "Home for the Holidays" Avon event in Springfield to check out all the new holiday products! Should be fun, and I get to spend the afternoon with my baby girl : ) YAY!

Have a beautiful Thursday!

Sept. 11 - 10 years later - priorities

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. It has been all over the news. I would venture to guess that everyone has thought about it over the last few weeks, and today, the actual anniversary, was certainly no exception. There were even more people in church today ... our mortality sometimes gets to us ... especially when there are events and things that bring that mortality to light. It touches hearts and makes us stop and hopefully, explore our priorities. That's what I am doing today ... exploring priorities. Reviewing tonight ... begin applying tomorrow!!

Health - applying the First Place4Health principles of health/wellness for emotional, spiritual, mental and physical life balance in preparation of leading the program at church!
Emotional (heart) - make sure your feelings are based on fact and are not destructive
Spiritual (soul) - giving control to God, applying scripture to daily life

Mental (mind) - have the right attitude, feed your mind positive, uplifting, encouraging food for
      thought

Physical (body) - Live-it food program (not DIE-it ... I love that!) & working out

Writing - multiple projects to be done
Jane's story (book about friend who is leukemia survivor) - goal is to write 1000+ words
minimum a day beginning tomorrow, 9/12!
Mums, Raspberries, Roses n Rainbows devotional book - work on it at least twice a week,
     Stormy (novel). Same as MRRR.
     Blog - update 3 to 5 times a week.

Will be focusing primarily on Jane's book so that it can be completed. Search is on for an agent and/or publisher. Some chapters are already finished!!

Work - Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives/Illinois Country Living
Developing strategic sales plans, focusing on relationship building with new and existing clients,
     business development and revenue generation!

Work - PR with Purpose
Casting vision, re-visiting mission for, this, my own business.

Work - Avon
Honeslty, I do this because it's fun! I enjoy the products, and I love that it's something Kristian
and I do together. In fact, we get to go to the Home for the Holidays event together this Friday.

And, of course, I will continue to make loving my family and friends a major priority! They mean the world to me!!!

Have a fit and fantastic week!

FirstPlace Bible Study-Wellness program

I am exploring the possibility of offering the FirstPlace program at Chatham Presbyterian. I've been so excited about getting in shape from the inside-out, that I would like the opportunity to help others do the same. This program is Bible-based and focuses on the complete person -- mental, spiritual, physical and emotional sides of who we are! I LOVE THAT ... Life Balance!

So, is my life in complete balance? Heaven's no, but I know what is out of balance, so that's a good start to getting it all together, right?! And I think doing so with others would be awesome! I'm targeting the beginning of October for the start time, and at this point, Mondays or Tuesdays are looking like the best evening.

In the meantime, I am reading the books, reviewing the materials, exploring the websites and getting ready to order the updated leaders kit ... getting so excited!!! I've missed leading a small group, and I'm feeling God's nudge on this one, specifically! Want to join me on the journey?

Have a fit & fabulous week!

What if?

This was the title of today's message, given by Brian Durbin at church today! Certainly food for thought! One of the things I am very good at, but working hard to correct, is asking that "What if?" question in a negative manner. You know the drill:

What if I try something new and fail?
What if I let someone down by saying 'No.'
What if I don't measure up, and someone doesn't like me?
What if I can't complete the riduculous, mostly self-imposed, to-do list?
What if I miss my devotion time? My family time? My church family time? Time with friends? My workout?

Time to rephrase and rethink the 'What if?' in a way that brings out the positive!!

What if I try something new and find success?
What if I bless someone else by saying 'No' and thereby open opportunities for them?
What if I think about measuring up in God's eyes, instead of man's?
What if I give my best and accomplish all that I can for Christ?
What if I spend more time with God in devotion and meditation and it energizes and blesses my life?
What if I spend quality time with my family and friends and find that we enjoy each other?
What if I serve my church family better in quality, not always just in quantity?
What if I get in at least a short workout and remember that God also says we need rest?

But wait there's more!!
What if I trust God for everything?
What if I have and share hope for the future?
What if I do what God has called me to do?
What if I share God's message of faith, combine it with fitness & wellness through personal training & encouragement, motivational speaking and help create healthier people from the inside out?

What if I count my blessings today? Oh wait, I already did that, and life is Ahhhh-mazing!!!

One of my friends posted today on FB:
Five simple rules to be happy: 1. Free your heart from hatred. 2. Free your mind from worries. 3. Live simply. 4. Give more. 5. Expect less.

Have a fit & fabulous day!

You are stronger than you think!

Ever have moments where you just aren't sure you actually can do something? You want to, but there is that nagging little bit of doubt, you aren't sure you are strong enough, or that you'll have the stamina to finish ... so you don't even try? Well, I am so over that mindset, and I would encourage you to join that school of thought ... especially if it's something positive, something good for you.

For example ... if you've read Mike Rigoni's latest blog, mikerigoni.blogspot.com, he talked about the change-up in his workouts, and the inclusion of spin classes, which are now available on demand at Chatham Snap Fitness. I decided to try it with him tonight, and did much better than I had anticipated.

OK ... at 16 minutes I was ready to stop, and talked myself in to continuing and going 20 minutes. At 20 minutes, I decided I could probably make it to 25 minutes. At 25 minutes, I figured, OK, a 30-minute workout would be great. And I had already done my abs workout. Mike had initially told me that it's "about" a 40-minute workout. Figured I could just keep taking it 5 minutes at a time, until I can't do anymore. So, 35 minutes, 40 minutes. Ahh, done ... or NOT!! It was actually 45-minutes, which includes explaining the set up of your bike, how to change the resistance, lots of intervals (sitting and standing up pedaling), a warm-up, a recovery set, a cool down and then stretching at the end. And I DID IT!! THE WHOLE THING!!! Mike was extremely encouraging ... as is typically the case!

I am going to try to do Spin-on-demand and/or kick-boxing, stepping, etc., two to three times a week, and also do my regular arc-trainer, abs routine and circuit training workouts. Today I found out ... I CAN DO IT, try something new and succeed, and so can you! Try some new moves, new exercises, new healthy foods. It's a brand new month, a great time to start or re-energize your workouts . Let me know what you try and how you do! I'm encouraging you all the way!!

Wishing you a fit & fabulous day!

Cowboy Church, etc. ...

No, really! That's what I am doing this coming Sunday ... Cowboy Church! I will miss being at Chatham Pres., but one of our AIEC board members and his wife are involved in Cowboy Church that is happening at Tri-County Antique Olden Days (south of Jerseyville on 109. Turn west on Rt. 3 at the junction.). They have some area performers who will do the majority of singing, etc., but have asked me to sing the National Anthem at the beginning of the service, and a verse of  "His Eye is on the Sparrow" during the message.  I'm really looking forward to it! The message will be delivered by horse whisperer Dennis Cappel and his wife, Cindy, of Hope Giver's Ranch, Silex, MO. I have it on good authority that hearts will be touched!

In the meantime, I am wrapping up profiles for Springfield Scene! It's such a blessing to do the interviews and find out what makes people tick and then tell their story. We have so many people in Springfield who have such wonderful stories! I am blessed to have the opportunity to share in their worlds and many times even getting to meet family members, etc.

I'm also writing the feature for the October issue of Illinois Country Living. Focus is on the education, building and business process for establishing and/or expanding wineries in Illinois. It is a growing business for sure.

Of course, ad sales work is happening every day, getting ready to go to Farm Progress Show next week, right after our IT Conference ... September is full of events, meetings, etc. I love it!!

Desperately need a workout! Planning to get up early in the a.m. to work out before going into the office. Somebody should ask me tomorrow if I actually went : ) Accountability is a very good and necessary thing!!

That's all for now ...

Have a fabulous weekend!

Sometimes we need a push ...

I know I certainly needed a push! A push right out of my wallowing over my headaches. A push to motivate me to do that which I am supposed to do. A push in the right direction, at the right moment with just the right amount of TLC. I have not been myself for quite some time. My energy level has been practically non-existent. My motivation has been lax. The normal encouraging of others that I typically enjoy offering had waned. My workouts suffered, when and if I even decided to do them. My writing projects had been set aside, podcast put on the back burner, and my devotion time sporadic, at best.

God is using so many people to bring me back to life, and yesterday there was a reality check, a nudge and then a big push! Here is how it happened, if you are interested, read on.

A couple of folks at church yesterday asked me how I was doing. My answer surprised them, and it even surprised me ... and scared me a bit perhaps. "Empty, feeling void!" Not a typical answer ... and not a good state of mind, and talk about putting friends on the spot ... how do you react to an answer like that? Well, they were, of course supportive!

Then after the end of second service, I headed off stage (after singing) toward the back to grab my purse and head out. One of the younger women in our congregation caught up with me and said she had just seen on FB the night before that I had a blog and noticed its name: "Purposeful Living." She confessed she hadn't actually read it yet, but has heard me share messages before, etc., and wanted to know if I would host an information booth for an upcoming women's conference she is helping to coordinate. She needed someone to talk about life balance, and especially integrating faith into the balance. I sorta chuckled, because lately, I have felt more out of balance, than in ... so who am I to instruct others?! Told her I would check my schedule, pray about it and let her know. This was the nudge!

Came home and changed, went to Snap for a really weak workout, moped around the house after, then went to the office to work for a bit. Decided to go see movie, "The Help." Afterwards, I went and walked around Shopko for a bit, then back to the office and then home. Ate a Twix, complete with guilt, in the car after just having had popcorn at the movie. When I walked in the house Mike greeted me and asked about the movie. Told him it was a great story, wonderfully written, acted and told, yet I was moping. He knew what I was thinking ... so he said it.

"Lisa, you have a story to tell, too, and it's time you get it done!" His voice was forceful, but not mean. "You have to get rid of all the other noise and get focused. Stop sitting on the couch in the evenings with me watching tv shows that you don't even like. Get your current writing assignments done and turned in. Clear your plate of all the projects you have that are holding you back." Then he walked from the kitchen where we were standing, to my home office. Turned on the light, looked at the piles of papers, books, boxes, bags, etc. Turned the light off and came back to me in the kitchen and continued. I was already crying like a baby, tears streaming down my face. "That mess is an excuse. Get boxes and pack it all up. Do NOT sort it. Box it! Stack it! Clean off the desk and WRITE! You can sort it after you are done with the book. There is no reason for you to be this miserable. You have stories in that head and heart of yours that need to be told. And you have the talent to do it!" I was crying more. He continued. "I love you, and you need to tell Jane's story first. And you need to do it now, not to have a published book. Not to make money. Do it for Jane and her family/friends. If you don't get it published, that's OK. You have let the re-writing of the proposal part get in the way of finishing the actual book! If you don't do it and something were to happen to Jane, you would never forgive yourself. Get it done!!" And there it was ... the push!!

And I have not felt so free in months and months. I needed someone to lovingly raise a voice and tell me to get my butt in gear. I needed someone to tell me to quit wallowing and get writing. So, here I am ... writing a new blog post! Did some writing on my assignments earlier. Had the best workout I have had in months ... feeling renewed and re-energized!

So, Elizabeth Miller ... thanks for the nudge! I would be happy to be available for your group! Mike ... I love you so much ... thanks for the push! You know me well ... thank you for loving me enough to "push" me in the right direction!

All, ready or not ... I AM BACK!!!!

Blessings,
Lisa

Finding your passion ...

What is it that makes you excited, that makes you lose track of time? What is it that you do, that you feel compelled to do ... and that you can't seem to stop once you begin? What is it that keeps you up at night? What is it that puts you in a frame of mind to keep going, even with obstacles seemingly in the way? Whatever "it" is, that is your passion! I am still searching for mine ... but getting closer every day!!
Wishing you rainbows n roses!

Purpose with causes ...

What I really want to do is make a difference in the lives of others, and if I could do that in my profession, and earn a living at the same time, that would be awesome!!

It seems that is a more realistic option than what I once thought. As an independent Avon rep/consultant, I have the opportunity to run various fundraising efforts for businesses/organizations. I'm ready to get started! Do you have an organization that would benefit? Let's touch base and see if a partnership is a viable option for you!

Have a fantastic week!

Business Travel ...

While the travel arrangements, the hotel stays and the work that awaits you while you are on a business trip are sometimes not fun, it is always worth it in the end.

I got to spend time with some of my favorite clients and prospects while at the NAMA Conference in Kansas City ... makes the headaches of traveling seem insignificant in the big-picture scheme of things.

Morning keynote speakers today were both excellent.

Sally Hogshead talked about the importance of branding and ways to achieve success ... to fascinate!

Jason Ryan Dorsey talked about the different generations and ways in which they can better interact with one other for maximum effectiveness.

Plus, productive time at NAMA's Connection Point Tradeshow, breaks and lunch conversations.

Sometimes ...

Life is just full of complications and things that you prefer not to have happen. But then you remember that God will not keep you from going through trials and tough times, but He will see you through them, and make you stronger as a result! Praying for God to see us through!
Wishing you a day full of blessings!

Happy New Year ...

I hope your year is off to a great start!

It looks like I was a bit over-ambitious with my deadline for the inaugural podcast. Hoped to have it ready by Jan. 15, but it looks like it may be closer to the end of January/beginning of February!

It's amazing how life happens and we get wrapped up in what's going on. Fortunately, it's all been good things to get wrapped in, including Megan and Brian being home this week. Had a wonderful family dinner Wednesday night with everyone, and they are coming back over tomorrow evening to hang out for a bit. Plus, it's basketball season, so I try to go to Mike's games ... at least the home games. I really enjoy watching him coach. And his principal forwarded a great letter to him last week, from a referee who was complimenting the behavior and school spirit the kids have shown under Mike's leadership. That's really what teaching and coaching should be all about ... I'm so proud of him!

OK ... much to do, so I'll close for now!

Wishing you rainbows and roses!
